When we were young, we were reckless.

We didn’t think about yesterday, nor were we scared of tomorrow.

When we were young, we ran — we ran so fast that no doubts in our minds could stop us.

We laughed, we fought, we fell, and we came home with grass stains and maybe a few bruises or broken bones.

I see the world differently now. I’m not saying we, as adults, don’t have fun anymore.

I tried to compare the now with the then — but what I really want is the very best of both.

I want the games, the emotions, the people, the fresh air, the food, the who gives a shit.

I want to make a mess and lick it clean again.

I want to dress the way I please and dance to the edge of sacred youth.

I want to kiss a pony on the forehead, have a staring contest with a bull and play catch me if you can with an arrowhead.

I want to go back to a day when we were saints.
